Level Up with Odoo 19.4: Every Major New Feature and What It Means for Your Business

In business technology, staying competitive means adopting tools that reduce complexity rather than add to it. Odoo 19.4, released in July 2026, does exactly that — with meaningful upgrades across accounting, inventory, manufacturing, sales, eCommerce, field service, and AI.

As an official Odoo partner in Saudi Arabia, H2 Solutions works with this platform every day. So alongside the headline features, we want to draw your attention to something the global announcement treats as a footnote: Odoo 19.4 contains one of the most substantial Saudi localization updates Odoo has ever shipped. If you run ZATCA e-invoicing or calculate end-of-service benefits, this release affects you directly.

Here is our complete breakdown.

A quick note on Odoo’s release rhythm

Odoo 19.0 launched in September 2025. Since then Odoo has shipped incremental releases roughly every two months — 19.1, 19.2, 19.3, and now 19.4. These are not cosmetic patches; 19.4 alone touches more than thirty modules.

The practical implication: if you are still running Odoo 17 or 18, the gap between your system and current Odoo is far wider than a single version number suggests.

AI: agents that now connect to everything

Odoo 19.0 introduced AI agents. Versions 19.1 through 19.3 taught them to create and update records. Version 19.4 gives them reach beyond Odoo itself.

Connect Odoo to anything via MCP. Odoo databases can now connect through the Model Context Protocol, the emerging standard for letting AI systems talk to external tools and data sources. This is the most strategically significant item in the release. An AI agent working inside Odoo is no longer limited to Odoo data — and external AI tools can now work against your ERP through a standard interface instead of custom integration code.

Automatic AI model selection. Choose your provider and let Odoo select the best model for each task, rather than guessing which model handles summarisation versus classification well.

Voice interaction. Dictate requests directly to an agent instead of typing — genuinely useful for field staff, warehouse floors, and anyone working on a phone.

Rich preview cards in Live Chat. When an agent references a record in a customer conversation, the chat can display a clickable card instead of a bare record name.

Stored conversations. Agent conversations are retained for 30 days after the last message, so context survives between sessions.

“Topics” are now “skills.” The collections of instructions and tools that shape agent behaviour have been renamed — worth knowing before you go looking for a setting that appears to have vanished.

AI also appears quietly elsewhere in this release: renaming uploaded files in Documents, drafting social media posts, and powering positioning suggestions in the website setup wizard.

Accounting: smarter, cleaner financial management

Finance is the backbone of any business, and 19.4 targets the manual work that eats month-end.

Bill line prediction. When you encode a vendor bill — manually or by import — Odoo now suggests line elements based on your bill history and the label used, pre-filling product, account, tax, analytic distribution, and vehicle from the best match. Manually entered values on existing lines are preserved. For finance teams processing high bill volumes, this is the single biggest time saver in the release.

Two-tier duplicate detection. Duplicate detection now uses a colour-coded warning system: red for invoices highly likely to be duplicates that should be corrected, yellow for potential duplicates worth investigating before posting. After posting, only red warnings remain.

Improved purchase order matching. Auto-Complete now checks for matching bill lines before creating new ones, provides a clear summary of what matched, warns when price or quantity differs from expectation, and lets you unmatch a bill from a purchase order.

Split items on invoices. A smart button opens the invoice’s journal items, where you can select lines to split — useful for handling multiple quantities, creating individual assets, and dividing an amount across different accounts.

Run Auto Reconciliation. Manually retrigger automatic bank reconciliation on demand rather than waiting for the scheduled run, which is a real gain during month-end close.

Better invoice attachments. Documents from the Documents app can be attached directly to invoice emails, and you can download a zip of all generated documents (PDF, XML, and so on) for selected invoices straight from the invoice list view.

Clearer withholding tax. Bills involving withholding now break the due amount into Amount Due, Withhold Due, and Net Due, and the payment wizard lets you pay only the withholding amount, only the payment amount, or the total.

Tax included/excluded toggle on sales orders, purchase orders, and invoices, with per-tax override where you need it.

Saudi Arabia and the GCC: the section worth reading twice

This is where 19.4 earns its keep for regional businesses — and where most Odoo release summaries stop short.

ZATCA and Saudi accounting

  • Multiple partner identifiers. A new multi-ID feature on the contact form supports Saudi-specific identification schemes — national ID, Iqama number, GCC ID — added by type and automatically validated. This replaces the workarounds most implementations have been relying on.

  • Explicit invoice and transaction types. Set invoice type (Tax or Simplified) and transaction type (Export, Summary, or Nominal) directly on the invoice form to control whether a document routes to ZATCA’s B2B or B2C API path. Previously this was inferred; now it is declared.

  • Supply End Date field. Supports simplified nominal invoices and correctly records continuous supplies and multiple deliveries.

  • Cleaner tax exemption reasons. Exemption reasons now use standard UBL tax category fields, with free-text support for services outside the scope of tax (VATEX-SA-OOS).

  • Address validation fixes. The Building Number and newly renamed Secondary Number field (formerly Plot Identification) are restricted to exactly four numerical digits, preventing the BR-KSA-37 XML validation errors that have caused so many failed submissions.

  • Tax list cleanup. Rarely used taxes have been removed to prevent selection errors, and base tax grids updated for 0% PE and 0% PH taxes.

  • Duplicate Supply Date field removed from the invoice header, remaining accessible under Other Info.

Saudi payroll

  • End-of-service provisions under Article 77. The calculation has been updated to properly handle termination cases under Article 77 of the Saudi labour law.

  • End-of-Service Benefit report. Compute total EOSB liability for one or more employees at any point in time — a significant gain for accurate provisioning and audit readiness.

  • Calendar-day working schedule. Supports payroll and leave calculations based on calendar days rather than working days.

Across the region

  • Kuwait gains a base payroll localization: regular pay, social insurance, end-of-service and provision calculations, and leave setup.

  • Oman gains a base payroll package plus Wage Protection System (WPS) file generation for compliant salary payment and reporting.

  • UAE adds the End-of-Service Benefit report and calendar-day working schedules.

  • Egypt receives a major overhaul: a scalable six-digit chart of accounts, updated VAT and withholding reports for ETA compliance, new deducted and gross withholding flows, and updated unit-of-measure codes.

  • Jordan adds support for Transit, Foreign Trade, and Free Zone Transfer invoice types.

If you operate multiple entities across the GCC, 19.4 narrows the gap between “Odoo supports our region” and “Odoo supports our region properly.”

Inventory and manufacturing: an optimised supply chain

For any business handling physical goods, inventory accuracy and production flow directly determine profitability.

Allocation report. The allocation flow has been redesigned, including the ability to allocate directly from the forecast report — so you can see what is waiting on incoming stock and reserve it without navigating away.

Stock aging report. Available from the Moves Analysis pivot view, this shows how long products have been sitting in inventory. Essential for identifying slow movers and managing working capital.

Inventory at a past date. A new date picker in the stock report gives you a clearer historical view that preserves your filters and lets you specify a precise timestamp.

Continuous production. Operators can now record produced quantities directly on work orders. With Continuous Production enabled on the bill of materials, subsequent operations begin as soon as quantities are ready rather than waiting for the full batch — cutting idle time between stages.

Barcode instruction preview. Preview the exact scan sequence an operator will see based on your configuration, directly from the operation type. Fewer surprises on the warehouse floor, fewer errors.

Variant-level HS codes. Harmonized System codes are now set per product variant — a real fix for anyone shipping variants across borders.

Vendor purchase reference on receipts. Warehouse staff can identify the vendor from an incoming transfer without opening the related purchase order.

Also new: CMR documents for international road freight prefilled from transfer data, bill of materials comparison by quantities used, subcontractor stock visibility in BoM overviews, picking status notifications, and barcode improvements including backorder control and fixed button positions.

Project, planning, and field service

Service businesses gain some of the most practical additions in this release.

Website service requests. Collect service requests through a website form rather than letting customers book slots directly, so your team keeps control of the schedule.

Travel times in the Gantt view. Connect the Mapbox integration to display travel time between interventions, so dispatchers schedule realistically instead of optimistically.

Drag-and-drop scheduling. Unscheduled shifts can be dragged from a side panel straight into the calendar or Gantt view.

Shift priorities. Set priorities on shifts; the Auto Plan feature schedules higher-priority work first.

Travel time invoicing. Charge a fixed fee for travel to the customer’s location, so billable time does not quietly disappear.

Customer history tracking. Track customer equipment and intervention history in one place.

Sales, POS, and eCommerce: better customer experience

Commission engine upgrades. Calculate commissions on amount paid rather than amount invoiced, and roll individual contributors’ achievements and targets up into manager or split commissions.

Editable margins. Edit the margin directly on a sales order line and let Odoo recompute the price.

Description-only order lines. Sales order lines no longer require a linked product by default. A new “Mandatory Product” setting lets you enforce product selection where you need the discipline.

Save as template. Turn any quotation or sales order into a reusable quotation template, and select templates directly at order creation.

Ship without Inventory. Send shipping confirmations and manage fulfilment without installing the Inventory app.

Service fees in Point of Sale. Configure service fees via presets for POS orders and self-orders, with the amount displayed on invoices — built for restaurants and service businesses.

Digital receipts. Customers can receive self-order receipts by WhatsApp or SMS, a modern and paperless alternative to printed slips. Simplified receipts showing only subtotals and taxes are also now available.

Multi-printer management for larger operations with several cash drawers, letting you choose which printer each document goes to.

eCommerce return management. Customers can select the products they want to return directly from their portal, improving post-purchase experience and cutting support tickets.

Pay on Invoice. A new payment provider lets B2B customers confirm orders without immediate payment — smoother transactions for credit-terms customers.

Also new in eCommerce: recurring donations through subscriptions, “On Sale” and “In Stock” ribbon filters, reference price display by default, and a default accounting journal for eCommerce orders.

Website: better SEO out of the box

Structured data by default. Webpages now include structured data in their HTML automatically, improving SEO and eligibility for Google Rich Results. If you have been injecting schema markup manually, this is a welcome change.

AI-powered configuration wizard. The setup wizard now offers positioning choices — luxury versus eco-conscious, for example — based on your business type, alongside new themes and refreshed default imagery.

Unified Google Analytics / Tag Manager field. Configure either from a single identifier in Website settings.

Form enhancements. Restrict uploads by file type, set character limits, limit email submissions to specific domains, and drag inner content snippets into forms.

WhatsApp widget snippet. One-click conversation start for site visitors — particularly effective in the Gulf market, where WhatsApp is the default business channel.

HR, payroll, and productivity

Overtime analysis report showing which rules applied to each entry, plus overtime rulesets linked by smart button. Photo at check-in where the device has a camera. Automatic check-out times for flexible-schedule employees. Variable working schedules encoded from calendar mode. Cross-company employee directory in multi-company databases. Contract date protection — dates can no longer be changed in ways that break existing payslips. Calendar day versus working day time-off deductions.

Sign adds touchscreen support, signer reordering, and better progress tracking for documents with more than three signers. Spreadsheet adds bubble charts, calculated columns, chart annotations, and manual recalculation via F9. Studio ships a new report editor interface. Discuss can now record calls and generate summaries.

New industry packages arrive for beauty parlors, public institutions, and — notably for industrial clients — custom industrial equipment, an engineering-to-order package built for EPC and turnkey projects covering design, prototyping, procurement, on-site installation, and long-term maintenance.

Why these updates matter for Saudi businesses

The Saudi market has specific demands: ZATCA compliance that cannot slip, Arabic-language operations, GOSI and end-of-service calculations, and the pace of Vision 2030 growth pushing companies to scale systems quickly.

Odoo 19.4 addresses real pain points — manual data entry errors, duplicate bills slipping through, inventory blind spots, disconnected sales and service processes — so your team spends less time on administration and more on growth. And the localization work in this release means fewer failed ZATCA submissions and more reliable EOSB provisioning, not just a nicer interface.

Should you upgrade?

The honest answer depends on where you are starting from.

On Odoo Online, minor releases reach you on Odoo’s schedule, so the question is less whether to upgrade than whether your team knows what changed. One item deserves particular attention: 19.4 simplifies access rights by removing record rules in favour of a domain applied at the access right level. That is a structural change worth reviewing before it surprises someone.

On Odoo 17 or 18, you are now several releases behind a platform that has added AI agents, MCP connectivity, and a substantially rebuilt Saudi localization. A clean, lightly customised instance is typically a matter of weeks. Heavily customised multi-company environments need a proper audit, a migration plan, and regression testing — custom modules written against older APIs will need work, and anything relying on record rules will need revisiting.

Running ZATCA e-invoicing? Treat the localization improvements as a compliance conversation rather than a feature wishlist.

How H2 Solutions can help

As a trusted Odoo partner in Saudi Arabia, H2 Solutions implements, customises, migrates, and supports Odoo for businesses across the Kingdom and the wider Gulf. Because we work in this market every day, we understand the parts of Odoo that global documentation treats as a footnote.

  • Upgrade audits. We assess your current version, custom modules, and integrations, then give you a realistic scope, timeline, and risk register before anything moves.

  • Migration execution. Staged upgrades with a test database, functional regression testing, and user acceptance sign-off before go-live.

  • Localization and compliance. ZATCA e-invoicing configuration and validation, Saudi payroll and EOSB setup, VAT compliance, and Arabic localization done properly rather than merely translated.

  • AI and MCP enablement. Practical scoping of where Odoo’s AI agents create value in your specific workflows — and where they do not.

  • Custom development. Modules, integrations, and reports built to survive the next upgrade rather than break on it.

  • Training and ongoing support. A feature nobody knows about is a feature nobody uses.
